  • Green Schools

    Thu 30 Sep 2021

Our new Green Schools Committee for this year has been formed and meetings will get underway this week. We are working towards our 8th Green Flag and the current theme is Global Citizenship: Marine Environments. Just before lockdown we asked that all the pupils and staff use a reusable water bottle in a bid to make PJPs a single-use-plastic bottle free zone. We would appreciate renewed support with this initiative. Pupils are also reminded to take all their lunch rubbish home with them so it can be disposed of in the correct bins. Keep an eye out on our school website for further updates throughout the year!

  • STEAM Schools Programme

    Wed 29 Sep 2021

Ms. Magner’s 3rd class are currently participating in the STEAM School's Programme.

STEAM School is an 8 week curriculum-linked blended learning programme delivered by Make Create Innovate for young people and teachers in primary and post primary schools. Each week students are introduced to low-cost everyday materials (including motors, LEDs, circuitry and recycled materials, as well as microcontroller, MaKey MaKey), through a combination of video learning content and live Zoom support sessions with expert tutors.

The STEAM School programme provides not only a pathway to STEM education, but also to vocational learning through creative, engaging and practical activities.

  • 🏖 Big Beach Clean 🏖

    Fri 17 Sep 2021

Ms. Costello's class was selected to represent the school as part of the ‘Big Beach Clean’ on Friday 17th September. Beach Clean is a Clean Coasts initiative.

The class walked to Malahide Beach where they were met by Sinead McCoy, from the Environmental Education Unit with An Taisce and given beach clean up equipment.

The class got straight to work finding all types of litter including plastic cups, bottles, sunglasses and even a bunch of keys!

The highlight of the day for the class was certainly being filmed by RTÉ's News 2 Day. Some of the class even got to be interviewed. You can watch the episode online here:

    news2day - RTÉ Player (rte.ie)

The class were delighted to have this opportunity to learn more about marine litter and the part we can all play in protecting our environment.
