Well done to everybody that has completed their Drumcondra maths test. The results will be on your school report.
This week as part of Tech Week, we did a maths lessons on the IPads. We looked at three different apps: Math Bingo, Eggs on Legs and Pop Math. We thought this was a great way to practise our division tables in a fun way! We also used www.multiplication.com om the interactive whiteboard to revise our divisio tables. Even though this website is called 'multiplication' , you can also play division, addition and subtraction games on the website. You can follow our tech week adventures on the school Twitter Page.
This week , we have started to use the Scratch App. This is all about computer coding. We created two programmes. This first one we could drive a car along a street and the second we were able to have 3 characters in a race. We have to use co-ordinates to help make the characters move and used or addition/subtraction skills to work out how far. We thought it was really cool! We are really looking forward to next Wednesday already.
This year we have been learning about 'Place Value'. It is very important that the children remember to put one number per square in their maths copy and that the numbers are in the correct column- hundreds, tens or units
We are learning about time. This can be a tricky one. If your child has a watch at home, I would encourage them to wear it. You can help at home by drawing their attention to the clock on the wall and pointing out key times eg dinner time, homework time, football training time etc
