Spelling City Information

Exciting News! Our class will be using SpellingCity.com to help us learn our spellings this year. SpellingCity is an educational website and app that allows students to practise their spelling and vocabulary words through engaging activities. Access SpellingCity online at www.spellingcity.com or by downloading the SpellingCity app from iTunes, the Google Play Store or the Amazon Appstore.

To help your child log in on the computer, please go to www.spellingcity.com, or open the app and click the blue Login button at the top of the page. Enter the username and password that I have provided each pupil with (Sent home in letter and also stuck in their Homework Journal) exactly as provided.

Once logged in, the students will have access to our class’ word lists, plus any assignments that have been created. Assignments will appear in a green box near the top of the page.

On the web, students select a list by clicking on the list name. They can then complete the Spelling TeachMe activity by clicking each word on the list, select the Play A Game button to practise their words using any of SpellingCity’s activities, select FlashCards to practise their words, or select the Spelling Test or Vocab Test button to quiz themselves on their words and help them prepare for any upcoming tests.

On the app, students can select any word list, then select an activity to practise their words.

Please be sure that every time your child accesses SpellingCity, he or she is properly logged in and completes each game or activity to ensure that the activity is recorded and credited. If there are assignments for your child, he or she MUST complete the assigned activities by clicking the links within the green box to have the assignments marked as "complete."

To view your child's progress, select My Records from the menu in the upper right-hand corner of the web page or See Records from the menu on the app when your child is logged in.

SpellingCity’s activities and games make word study fun while helping students build confidence and learn independently. Working as a team will go a long way toward guiding our students to academic success and ensure they become lifelong learners.
