Listening and Responding to Music

This week we put our ears to the test by listening to a piece of music from a musical film

”The King and I”. The piece was called “Getting to know you”. We had to listen to see if we could clap the beat/rhythm , could we identify the tempo , could we hear any instruments and we discussed what is meant by verse/chorus. Elements of music: Revising Beat and Tempo- Introducing Timbre 

 

This week we used the well known band ‘ABBA” to explore the concept of beat. We clapped and tapped to count 4 beats in a bar. We also explored the different instruments recognising that voice is also an instrument. We used some very well known songs to help ,Waterloo, Mamma Mia and Chiquita. We had great fun!
