Ms. Forman Room 26

Our Trip to the Sweet Shop!

We have had a very busy few weeks in Room 26 as you can see from the photos below! I would like to thank Kelly Reid for coming in to visit us with baby Matilda. It was a lovely visit with lots of interesting  questions and answers. Matilda seemed to really enjoy meeting everyone and we certainly loved her visit!

Thanks also to Sarah for her talk on being a psychologist and mental health in general. It was a fascinating discussion and some really interesting questions were asked. It was very thought-provoking and inspiring!

Happy Christmas from Room 26! We have had a very busy term, and everyone has worked really hard. The children performed wonderfully at their Christmas performance and also enjoyed the Advent Service and the Carol service. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the Trócaire Global Gift of the education kit for children in Somalia!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and to thank you for all your support this term. Looking forward to seeing everyone in January!

We had great fun helping Ms.Carroll's class with their snowmen!

We have are also enjoying learning all about the Golden Goals. These are 17 goals for global development by the U.N. which include ending poverty and hunger all over the world.

We are finishing off our power -point projects on Ancient Rome. They have turned out really well.

We are coming to the end of our class novel, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. The children have done lots of interesting and creative work based on this classic book!

Hallowe'en Fun!

   Wednesday 7th October

We were very lucky today to have a visit from Ondine, Lexi's mum. Ondine came in to share some mindfulness exercises with us. We did some great exercises, including mindful walking and mindful eating. The chocolate buttons definitely tasted better when we ate them mindfully! Thanks so much to Ondine for taking the time to visit and share with us. We will really miss Lexi when she leaves us to return to Canada next week.

In other class news, we have been doing lots of work on our well-being and particularly our resilience skills. We are learning how to cope with stress and the ordinary ups and downs of life.

In P.E. we are  learning great soccer skills from the FAI coaches each Wednesday morning.

Swimming lessons will start on Tuesday 4th November.

We have started to learn powerpoint skills during our laptop time- it will be a great format for our future projects.

Our new classroom is gradually becoming more colouful each week as we unleash our creativity- we have explored paint, clay and charcoal already with some wonderful results. We have started our Hallowe'en art this week.

Keep up the great reading records everybody- we are really enjoying our new class library, with titles chosen by the class.

We have just finished exploring angles and lines in maths- keep an eye out for examples in the environment!
