Performance Poetry

This month, we've been working on another area of drama- poetry! We have been exploring individual poems and then poems that can be performed in groups. We have been focusing on adding various tone and expressions to our voices when reading aloud and also investigating movement /gestures.

Room 29 reads the Six One News

This week , we had some great fun taking on the roles of some famous faces! We pretended we were presenting the Six One News and Weather forecast- Brian Dobson and Nuala Carey better watch out!

Cinderella our Christmas Play

Thank You

A very special thank you from everyone in room 29 to everyone that came along to see our Christmas play last Friday. We really enjoyed the opportunity to perform in front of an audience and we hoped you enjoyed the show too. We were a little nervous but your clapping and cheering really helped us relax!

We hope everyone has a very Happy Christmas!

Costumes

It's time to start sourcing costumes for our class play. Please don't go buying anything! Turn t shirts inside out or back to front if needed! Lots of people have offered to share and we have some things in our class prop box that might be useful too!

Keep it simple- if unsure what to wear , try black/grey trousers with a white/black t shirt.

Time to get creative!

Use cereal boxes, tinfoil , cardboard to create fairy wings, mirror and wands!

We are looking for a large cardboard box....if anyone has one that would be great ! Thanks

Drumroll please.....

Our Christmas play will take place on Friday 18th December at 11am . All parents/guardians are welcome. Due to the large volume of classes doing plays this year , we will only be able to perform our play once. We hope you can make it!

Sssh it's a surprise...

We have some special plans in room 29. We have started working on a surprise. Fingers crossed it all comes together and we might have a treat in store in a few weeks time

Before we start any drama lessons, our class have agreed on a class contract.

These are guidelines to help everyone enjoy drama.

Here is a copy of our drama contract rules:

  1. Have fun and enjoy yourself
  2. Don't be shy!
  3. Nobody has to perform in front of the class if they don't want to.
  4. Listen to others
  5. Share ideas
  6. When the lesson is over the drama is over.

This year in drama class , we will be focusing on improvisation, vocal skills and voice projection, mime, still images, puppetry, stage performance and much more. We hope that we have a good year together.
